THE OTHER STORY.

From RED STATE.

Because of the state legislature wins, there will be 18 states subject to reapportionment. The Republicans will control a majority of those — at least ten and maybe a dozen or more. More significantly, a minimum of seventeen state legislative houses have flipped to the Republican Party.

The North Carolina Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1870. Yes, that is Eighteen Seventy.

The Alabama Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1876.

For those saying this is nothing because it is the South, consider these:

The entire Wisconsin and New Hampshire legislatures have flipped to the GOP by wide margins.

The State Houses in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Montana, and Colorado flipped to the GOP.

The Maine and Minnesota Senates flipped to the GOP.

The Texas and Tennessee Houses went from virtually tied to massive Republican gains. The gains in Texas were so big that the Republicans no longer need the Democrats to get state constitutional amendments out of the state legislature.

These gains go all the way down to the municipal level across the nation. That did not happen even in 1994

KNOW THY ENEMY.

With the election now behind us, and with what appears to be a new crop of Republicans heading to Washington, I hope Republicans have learned the lesson of the last 2 years. This administration and Democrats spat in your face and not once reached out or tried to seek consensus. NOT ONCE!
As expected, we are now hearing that Obama/Democrats will move to the center and reach out. DON’T BUY IT!
Obama and these Democrats are ideologues. Hard-core, unbending, unyielding, ideologues.
Don’t believe me. Ok, then take a look at the marching order coming from the left.

"The Republicans have framed the issue as government vs. the people, and people feeling bogged down and oppressed are all too willing to find the easy enemy that has been presented to them. Government, however, is not the reason why budgets are short and times are tough, it's not government that keeps reaching its hand into our pockets by jacking up the prices we pay for the things we need to stay alive, it's not government that cuts our pay and increases our hours. It's business.

Government, in fact, restricts business's ability to take us to the cleaners. As income inequality in our nation (but not in the world) reaches obscene levels seen only before in the 1920s and 1880s, as the new plutocracy consolidates its power over every single walk of American life, government is the only social institution big enough and powerful enough to stand in its way.

What is government? It is the organized representation of the people. In theory and in law, government works for us, for all of us. Its interest is the national interest, elected representatives are expected to represent the interests of their constituents, and national officials are expected to work for the common good. Government is a social enterprise whose only purpose is to make society work better.

What is business? It's only purpose is to maximize the profit returned to shareholders. Most people don't even realize that corporate boards have a fiduciary responsibility, that is a legal obligation, to return the greatest amount of profit possible to the individuals who own stock in the corporation. It's the only reason companies exist: to make a profit.

How do they make their profits? Well, by lowering costs and raising prices. For me, as either a consumer of their products or a worker in their employ, both lowered costs and increased prices have a negative impact on my quality of life.

The Republicans want to cut corporations loose from government regulation, but government is the only thing I have preventing corporations from raping me. Democrats stand for activist government, a government that protects my quality of life and can guarantee solid economic growth.

That's the frame we need, folks. It's us against them, and we need to stand firm."

In the I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW department.....

Did you know that Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona is up for re-election?
Yep, Public Enemy #1 of the Obama administration has a 12% lead over her Dem. opponent.
I guess the MSM "missed"' this race.
I remember several months ago hearing David Axelrod comment about how Obama would not grant FOX an interview because he didn't consider FOX a news organization.
Well, today on the day that will transform the Obama administration, Obama is doing an exclusive interview with one of the most respected news reporters of our time, Ryan Seacrest.
Yes, Ryan Seacrest of American Idol fame!
Upon hearing the news, Mr. Seacrest tweeted all of the 13 to 19 year old that follow him.
"I'm interviewing President @BarackObama and want to ask him YOUR questions, political & otherwise," Seacrest tweeted Monday.
Very impressive ,eh?

NICE LITTLE VIDEO!

It's less than 3 minutes long, but worth the watch!

Where's Dick Cheney when you need him!

According to two witnesses, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia took fellow Justice Elena Kagan out for a lesson in skeet shooting at his shooting club in Virginia last week.
The witnesses saw Scalia at the Fairfax Rod and Gun Club, where he is a member, around noon on Wednesday of last week. He was with a woman who was noticeably diminutive in height, like Kagan, who stands at about five feet three inches. The witnesses, who got a very close look at the pair, say that the woman was the newest Supreme Court Justice.

A BIT OF NPR TOLERANCE, EH?

Here is what the Queen Bee of NPR, Nina Totenberg said about Jessee Helms.

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Apparently, all things can't be considered.

Juan Williams canned at NPR.

Juan Williams appeared on The O'Reilly Factor and O’Reilly said, “The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.”

Mr. Williams said he agreed with Mr. O’Reilly.

“I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”

Once again, the TOLERANT left is exposed.

"WE CAN CONTINUE MOVING THIS COUNTRY FORWARD"

Amateur hour at the White House.
Let me tell you a secret O and Mrs. O. Not even the Democrats are buying this bullshit!

GREEN SHARIA, ANYONE?

The video, "No Pressure" (below), was produced by a British group called 10:10, which clamors for people to lower their carbon consumption by 10% in 2010 -- or else.
But don't worry..............there's no pressure.

NOW, TELL ME AGAIN WHY WE CAN'T USE MILITARY TRIBUNALS.

The defendant, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, was scheduled to begin trial on Wednesday in Federal District Court on charges he conspired in the 1998 bombings of the American embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The attacks, orchestrated by Al Qaeda, killed 224 people....

Mr. Ghailani’s lawyers say that he was tortured while in C.I.A. custody, and argued that any statements he made or evidence derived from those statements was tainted and should be inadmissible.

Prosecutors say the witness, Hussein Abebe, sold Mr. Ghailani the TNT that was used to blow up the Embassy in Dar es Salaam. They say Mr. Abebe agreed voluntarily to testify against Mr. Ghailani, and that his decision to cooperate was only remotely linked with the interrogation.
But in a three-page ruling, Judge Kaplan wrote that “the government has failed to prove that Abebe’s testimony is sufficiently attenuated from Ghailani’s coerced statements to permit its receipt in evidence.”

The Obama Justice Department pushed with all their might to not have military tribunals, and now in what is the first day of the trial, the defense has made what I think is a legitimate argument.
It seems to me that maybe this is what Holder and Prez. O wanted all along.

WHAT ARE WE BECOMING???

Are we becoming a nation of whinny little rats and tattle-tales?

"The Cincinnati Health Department will investigate the Cincinnati Reds for violations of the state smoking ban after people complained players smoked cigars indoors while celebrating their National League Central Division title Tuesday night.

A lot of players could be seen on TV smoking the cigars, and Reds owner Bob Castellini was passing them out. But video doesn't affect the investigation - the health inspector has to actually see someone smoking, said Rocky Merz, health department spokesman.

Five people called a statewide smoking ban complaint hotline, Merz said. Those complaints were sent to the city health department today for investigation. Castellini will get letter soon notifying him of the alleged violation."

So the Reds end a 15 year post-season drought and the owner breaks out cigars......IN THEIR OWN CLUBHOUSE, and FIVE little Gestapo rats call the Smoking Ban Complaint Hotline.
First off, what the f*ck is a smoking complaint hotline?? A government run Gestapo apparatus to monitor smoking? What in the hell are we becoming?!!!
