TRANSITION TO WHAT?

LONDON, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- European leaders Thursday stepped up pressure on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to immediately launch a political transition in Egypt and protect demonstrators. (UPI.COM)

President Obama, who spoke to the Egyptian leader for 30 minutes, appeared before the cameras at the White House and said the transition "must be meaningful, it must be peaceful, and it must begin now." (USATODAY)

Prime Minister David Cameron has issued a joint call with US President Barack Obama for an "orderly transition" to a democratic government in Egypt. (BBC)
