Addressing suggestions that recent criticism of his health care reform efforts has been grounded in racism, President Obama quipped, "I think it's important to realize that I was actually black before the election."

Now that's exactly what one does when trying to steer away from any racial comments or bringing race into the discussion. YOU BRING UP RACE!

I'll give him a pass on this one. I think he was just joking around with that comment. And it was really in response to Carter's statement that most people don't want a black President. Obviously, most people voted for Obama.

I hear ya, but a more presidential response would have been... no response or just 'put it aside'
